Grand Piano Regulation
Piano regulation is the meticulous adjustment of the piano's mechanical components to ensure optimal responsiveness and playability. This involves calibrating the action, keyboard, and dampers to precise factory specifications, resulting in a consistent touch and a full range of dynamics.
Glueing a new set of Steinway Hammers
I use this fixture to keep the piano parts aligned when gluing on a set of hammers. It includes a secondary work tray that helps me position the replacement hammers in order and within easy reach. This setup ensures I achieve a precise and professional finish."

Hammer Burning
A heat source, traditionally fire, used to bend or twist the wood. This is done to correct squaring angle of the hammers they are glued so that they are nominally square to their neighbors.

Travel Burning and Spacing
After new hammers are glued and a preliminary round of burning is performed, it is best to evenly space the hammers and ensure that they are traveling more or less up and down and not in or out toward their neighbors. It is then good to perform another round of hammer burning.
